1,200 New, Quality Jobs Coming to Orlando Courtesy of Connextions

Today, I got the chance to partner with leaders from one of our City’s fastest growing companies, Connextions, to announce the addition of 1,200 new jobs.

Connextions is a pre-eminent technology and business services partner to the healthcare industry. Many of the people hired for the Orlando expansion will provide important support for American consumers as they purchase healthcare products - like health insurance - and learn how to use their plans to get well and stay well.

The positions will be located at the company’s existing Orlando headquarters, as well as a seasonal expansion site in south Orlando. Positions range from licensed and non-licensed health agent roles, to coaches, managers, technologists and more.

For more information about Connextions, view the press release here.

More importantly, for details on available jobs and to apply go to: jobs.connextions.com.

Today’s job announcement is another important milestone in the recovery of our local economy. It also comes on the heels of news just last week that unemployment in Orlando is in the single digits for the second straight month.

Central Florida also continues to add jobs more quickly than other metro areas across the state. Compared with May 2010, Metro Orlando had about 6,600 more jobs last month. That’s the biggest year-over-year gain among the 22 areas measured in Florida.

We still have much work to do as our community partners together to sustain our economic recovery. This job announcement is great news and our City is committed to helping connect our residents with high quality jobs.

Mayor

The statewide figure represents about 996,000 jobless Floridians in a labor pool of about 9.2 million. Officials said this is the first time since October 2009 that the number of unemployed in Florida has fallen below 1 million. Read more...
