BBA Aviation

We have worked hard over the last eight years to build Downtown Orlando into the ideal location for corporate and division headquarters in the region and Monday, we celebrate the growth and retention of one of our very own Downtown Orlando companies.

BBA Aviation, is the parent company of Signature Flight Support which services the aviation industry with ground handling operations including fueling, hangar and office rentals, and a wide range of crew and passenger amenities at strategic domestic and international locations.
BBA has been exploring the opportunity to expand their corporate headquarters which is currently located just two blocks from City Hall. BBA was considering FOUR other states for its possible expansion.

On January 9, 2012, we approved a CRA High Value, High Wage Job Program and QTI incentive to BBA Aviation, which will allow them to expand their corporate headquarters to 60,000 square feet in its current building, create 100 new jobs paying 200% of the Orlando MSA average annual wage, and retain nearly 200 jobs right here in Downtown Orlando.

Federal Grant Helps Local Company, AMCOR PLASTICS, Expand and stay in Orlando

The City of Orlando was recently awarded a grant through the State of Florida to assist Amcor Rigid Plastics with a transportation turn-lane and curb cut on Tradeport Drive.

This particular grant allows municipalities to apply for funds to eliminate transportation obstacles to businesses that wish to relocate to or expand in the State of Florida.

AMCOR, a global leader in packaging products, needed to create the additional driveway access from Tradeport Drive to accommodate tractor-trailer movements at its new facility in AIPO industrial park.

Earlier this year, City Council approved a local Qualified Target Industry (QTI) Tax Refund Resolution for Amcor because they were looking for a new site for their Southeast Operations facility and had identified Georgia and Alabama for potential relocation options.

The City of Orlando is pleased to be able to support Amcor through funding for the QTI program and applying for the Transportation Fund grant.

Amcor’s decision to stay in Orlando results in the creation of 29 additional jobs, the retention of 97 jobs in our community and a capital investment of nearly $20 million in construction and equipment at their new facility.

Amcor Rigid Plastics USA Plans on Expanding its Orlando Footprint

Due to its continued growth and success, Amcor is looking to expand its Central Florida location and create nearly 30 new, high quality jobs.

Amcor is considering leasing 500,000 square feet of space within the Airport International Park of Orlando. This week, the Orlando City Council moved forward with a Qualified Target Industry (QTI) Tax Refund Resolution for Amcor Rigid Plastics, a global leader in responsible packaging including plastic containers for beverages, food and healthcare products and corrugated boxes.

If the QTI incentive is made to Amcor, the company will create 29 new jobs, at an average wage of more than 47 thousand dollars per year, which is more than 115% of the Orange County annual average wage. Amcor’s total capital investment in this project is nearly $19.5 million in the City of Orlando.
